Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network (TECMN)

The Tanzania Ending Child Marriage Network (TECMN) was formally established on 11th October 2012, with Children’s Dignity Forum (CDF) proudly serving as the network’s secretariat, and FORWARD UK playing a crucial role in the technical and financial development of the network.

TECMN was formed after a few Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) recognized the urgent need for multi-sectorial action to stop child marriage in Tanzania. Currently, TECMN brings together 87 member organizations — a coalition of NGOs for children’s welfare, committed to promoting children’s rights and ending harmful practices in Tanzania. The network is also an active member of Girls Not Brides (GNB), a global network working to end child marriage.

As a leading child rights organization in Tanzania, TECMN partners closely with Government ministries, Members of Parliament, traditional and religious leaders, development partners, and girls and young women affected by child marriage.

Vision: To see a Tanzania free from child marriage.

Mission: To accelerate efforts to prevent and respond to child marriage by collaborating with the government, NGOs, CBOs, Development Partners, the media, FBOs, and the private sector, and to support girls who are or have been married.
